Abstract preparation guidelines

MS Word file, Structured, no more than 300 words (excluding title, authors list and affiliation)

The Abstract should be structured into the following sections;

  • Title
  • Authors (List of authors, presenting author listed first)
  • Affiliation (Institutional Affiliation)
  • Email and phone number of submitting author
  • Type of Study: (Clinical/ Basic)
  • Subject: (Rheumatoid arthritis/ Spondyloarthritis/ Connective tissue disorder/ Vasculitis/ Paediatric rheumatology/ miscellaneous)
  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
  • References (optional)

Table: One table. Use the tabs function of MS word, do not use grid tables. Give a title to the label. Embed the table in the main text document

Images: One image in high quality JPEG or PNG format. Send a clearly labeled figure (e.g. Figure 1. MRI wrist) as a separate file.

Case reports/ case series abstracts

The Abstract should be structured into the following sections;

  • Affiliation (Institutional Affiliation)
  • Email and phone number of submitting author
  • Case report/ case series
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References (optional)

Images: Two images in high quality JPEG or PNG format. Send a clearly labeled (e.g. Figure 1. MRI of wrist) as a separate file.

Abstract Rules
  • Members and non-members of the Indian Rheumatology Association are eligible to submit an abstract.
  • Abstracts that describe original basic and clinical science related to the broad area of rheumatic diseases may be submitted. If the abstract reports results of a clinical trial, you will be required to identify the trial phase. Any work with human or animal subjects reported in submitted abstracts must comply with the guiding principles for experimental procedures in the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki.
  • Last date for submission of abstracts is :31st July 2018
  • Registration for the conference is mandatory for presentation of the abstract.
  • Abstracts will be judged according to the scientific merit and relevance by the scientific committee.
  • Abstract should not contain brand names, trade names or non-standard acronyms.
  • The presenting author should be willing to present the work during the IRACON 2018 as either an oral platform presentation or poster presentation as assigned by the scientific committee.
  • The authors, by virtue of submission of the abstract, agree to the publication of the same in the souvenir of the conference/Indian journal of Rheumatology.
  • The decision of the scientific committee would be final.
  • Abstracts can only be submitted online via the online abstract submission system. Abstracts sent by post or email will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.
  • Please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical or scientific errors, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proofreading will be done.
  • Abstract acceptance will be in one of three categories: oral presentation, poster presentation.
  • Abstracts not adhering to these guidelines will be rejected. If you do not agree with any of these rules, you should not submit an abstract. The final decision about acceptance of an abstract will be taken by the IRACON Scientific Committee. IRACON does not correspond on the reasons for acceptance/rejection of an abstract.
  • If you need to withdraw your abstract, a written statement reflecting the reasons for this decision must be sent to the IRACON Secretariat not later than 15th Aug 2018.
  • If an abstract is accepted as a poster presentation, the presenting author will be requested to be available for discussion during the corresponding poster viewing session.
  • If an abstract is selected for oral presentation, the presenting author, as specified at submission, will be requested to present it in the assigned session. At the time of abstract submission, the submitter must identify who will be the presenting author. To be eligible to present, authors will be required to confirm they had full access to all of the data in the study and take responsibility for the integrity of the data, accuracy of the data analysis, and approving the data for presentation. The presenting author need not be the first author, but must be a listed author on the abstract. Only one presenter is permitted per abstract.

Important

The presenting author is the sole point of contact for all abstract co-authors. The organizing committee will direct all co-author inquiries to the presenting author. The organizing committee graciously requests that interested parties please refrain from contacting directly to obtain information regarding abstract status, notification, distribution, and/or publication dates .
